De La Salle University Medical Center and Aesculap Academy invites all interested Medical Doctors and Registered Nurses to join their Seminar work "Basic Surgical Skills and Instrumentation" on April 7, 2009 at De La Salle University Medical Center. Shirard Leonardo C. Adiviso, MD, MHPEd, FPCS, FPSGS is the resource speaker of the said seminar workshop.

This is a basic course on instrumentation and surgical skills, specifically on knot tying and suturing. At the end of the lecturette and simulation, participants should be able to:

  1. Discuss wound healing and its stages;
  2. Discuss the classification of wounds;
  3. Identify the basic operating room instruments utilized in most commonly performed operations;
  4. Perform the right sequence in different types of knot tying;
  5. Utilize the appropriate suture material for wound closure; and,
  6. Demosntrate the correct steps in basic suturing for wound closure.

Operating Room Nurses Association, Inc. (ORNAP) in collaboration with Aesculap Academy Philippines will conduct a seminar-workshop entitled “Lecture and Workshop on Building Competencies in Managing Instruments”. This workshop/seminar aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of Peri-operative Nurses, CSSD, and Operating Room Clinical Instructors in handling surgical instruments. In particular, it intends to review current practices on the care and maintenance of surgical instruments; to provide updates on the different types of reprocessing of surgical instruments; and lastly, to provide recommendations on the proper care and maintenance of basic and surgical instruments.

The seminar is scheduled on the following dates; March 31, 2009 and May 12, 2009 at Aesculap Academy, JMT Building, Ortigas Center, Pasig City, Philippines. Participation fee is P300.00 (includes kit and snacks). Pre-registration and Reservation is required to all participants (50 seats only).

Successful examinees should personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals to the nearest Regional Office to file his/her application for registration and to affix his/her signature in the registry book.

All Registration Certificates and PRC ID shall be claimed by the licensee personally at the Central Office or the Regional Office where the application for the same has been filed. If there is an unavoidable need for a representative, he must present his/her identification paper with picture and a Special Power of Attorney.

Requirements for Initial Registration:

  1. Duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal
  2. Current Community Tax Certificate (cedula)
  3. 2 pieces passport size picture (colored with white background and complete name tag)
  4. 1 piece 1” x 1” picture (colored with white background and complete name tag)
  5. 2 sets of metered documentary stamps
  6. 1 short brown envelope with name and profession
  7. Initial Registration Fee of P600 and Annual Registration Fee of P450 for 2009-2012.

(ORNAP) in collaboration with Aesculap Academy Philippines will conduct a seminar-workshop entitled "MIS: Advanced Course in Surgical Instruments Management" an advanced course in Perioperative nursing that focuses on most commonly performed cases in minimal invasive surgery (MIS) and the surgical instruments used in the surgical procedures.

The seminar is scheduled on March 17, 2009 at Aesculap Academy, JMT Building, Ortigas Center, Pasig City. Dr. Shirard Leonardo C. Adiviso, MD, MDPEd, FPCS, FPSGS, Chair of the Committee on Surgical Training of the Philippine Society of General Surgeons (PSGS), and Jennifer C. Fernando, Sterile Processing Specialist (DGSV) will be the honorary speakers of the said event. Participation fee is P800.00, the semininar is limited to 30 seats only.
